Male,’ Maldives: Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundu) has announced his decision to re-contest for the position of Vice President of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC).
In a statement posted on his official Facebook account, Shareef recalled that he was originally elected as Vice President during the PNC’s inaugural congress, where party members placed their trust in him during a challenging period for their political movement to serve the public interest.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation today, Shareef highlighted that it is a profound honor to work for the Maldivian people under the strong leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He further stated his firm belief that maintaining President Dr. Muizzu at the helm of the nation’s leadership is the most beneficial path toward bringing stability and economic prosperity to the Maldives under this national vision.
Shareef emphasized that his decision to run again for the PNC vice presidency stems from a strong commitment to work to the fullest of his abilities toward the primary objective of securing a second term for President Muizzu in the 2028 presidential election.
