A tourist sustained minor injuries in K. Maafushi after a parasail towline snapped during harsh weather, causing two people to fall into the sea.
The incident occurred as adverse weather conditions swept across Kaafu Atoll, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to the area. According to local sources, operators were attempting to lower the parasail due to the worsening conditions when strong wind gusts caused the towline to break, leaving the parachute adrift.
Two Chinese tourists—a male and a female—were on the parasail at the time. Before falling into the water, the drifting chute caught on a zipline cable stretched across the sea between Maafushi and the neighboring island of Vahmaafushi.
Bystanders on jet skis immediately rushed to the scene to assist the two tourists after they fell into the ocean. Both individuals were brought ashore and transported to Maafushi Health Center for medical evaluations and treatment. Reports indicate that while the male tourist suffered minor injuries, neither individual sustained severe harm
